The Zoji La is situated on National Highway 1, connecting the Kashmir Valley to Ladakh. It has an elevation of about 11,500 feet (3,500 m) above sea level and is known for its steep inclines, sharp turns and slippery surfaces. Many travelers have been captivated by its alluring beauty and spectacular views of snow-capped mountains, lush green valleys and majestic glaciers. The road stretches for nine kilometers and winds through some of India’s highest mountains. Despite its harrowing nature, thousands of brave souls attempt this journey every year in spite of the risks involved. Undoubtedly, traversing Zoji La requires immense courage as well as skillful driving from those who embark on this challenging endeavor.
